Over the weekend, we spread out a giant plastic sheet on the kitchen floor, grabbed the acrylic paints, paintbrushes, and stencils, and got a little messy decorating our pumpkins.
My son's plan was to start slowly and let his creative juices flow by painting his pumpkin purple.
My fiancé, on the other hand, painted his pumpkin silver to start.
Then he used his artistic skills to free-hand autumn foliage while painting his pumpkin.
I couldn't think of anything to make. The one thing I knew for sure was that whatever color I picked, I wanted it to stand out, so I painted my pumpkin white first as a primer.
I loved gold paint, and we had enough of it, so I decided to go ahead and use it. My simple pumpkin painting idea made my pumpkin look like it came straight out of a kids storybook. It looked fantastic painted in solid gold, but I thought it was still a little too simple.
I began adding some of my favorite colors using the marbling paints we had on hand. Marbling paint was the best option because it wasn't as thick and concentrated as acrylic paint.
I didn't intend for my pumpkin to look shiny, but it turned out to be metallic and beautiful!
The stem came out looking fantastic!

For our first time, I think our pumpkins turned out pretty well! And we had a great time working on them together.
